The bridge between chip and application
Without middleware, an eID card cannot develop its full potential. SCinterface eID establishes this essential connection – between chip card and operating system, between sensitive data and its applications. The solution not only supports digital signatures and certificate-based authentication, but also ensures secure communication with the card chip, for example via PACE – a BSI-standardized protocol for secure access to smart cards.
SCinterface eID is not only designed for today’s requirements, but is also prepared for future eID solutions. The middleware supports over 100 combinations of chips, profiles and operating systems, including Infineon Secora ID, NXP ChipDoc and applets such as cryptovision ePasslet Suite and Infineon eSign. This makes it the ideal solution for authorities, companies and system integrators who want to use different eID card types in parallel or migrate smoothly to new technologies.
Flexible, scalable, future-proof
SCinterface eID has a modular structure and can be used across platforms – on Windows, macOS and Linux. Thanks to support for all relevant cryptographic standards and interfaces such as PKCS#11, Microsoft CSP, Minidriver, Crypto Token Driver or PC/SC, it can be seamlessly integrated into existing infrastructures. Certificate management is also optimally supported by standards such as PKCS#10, PKCS#12 and PKCS#15.
In addition, SCinterface eID can be easily localized and adapted to specific user groups or national requirements – a clear advantage for international rollouts or federal IT landscapes.
Rethinking security – biometrics instead of PIN
SCinterface eID offers an optional biometric extension with match-on-card function. The fingerprint data remains securely on the card and is compared there with the presented print – a significant security gain compared to conventional PIN use and at the same time a convenience plus for the user.
