Your Mission

As a Senior Software Engineer Smartcard Middleware (C/C++), you will play a key role in further developing our proprietary products and designing innovative new solutions. The focus of your work will be on the further development of our Virtual Smart Card (VSC). You combine technical expertise with the highest security requirements, thereby increasing data security in the digital world.

Your Role

Together with our highly qualified team, you will shape the architecture and implementation of our software: you will develop architecture proposals for new developments, document them using suitable tools, and ensure implementation in line with deadlines and specifications.

VSC core logic: Maintenance and further development of our solution on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Remote & Cloud Auth: Maintenance of the existing key server connection (REST API), as well as expansion of multiple authentication mechanisms such as OIDC, mTLS, etc.

Mobile & cross-platform engineering: You will drive the development of our mobile components with .NET MAUI (C#) and integrate platform-specific native logic (C++) for Android, iOS, and iPadOS, including Apple CryptoTokenKit.

Native low-level development: You will implement and maintain system drivers at kernel/driver level for Windows (UMDF 2.0) and macOS (IOUSBHost).

Tooling & environments: You will work in a professional development environment with Visual Studio, VSCode, Xcode, CMake, Git/GitLab, Jenkins, and Jira/Confluence, and use our virtualized multi-OS testing and build environments for continuous integration.

Security as a guiding principle: The high security requirements of our products always shape your thinking and actions.

Your Profile

You have relevant experience in modern software development as well as knowledge of PKI and encryption. Technical training or a degree, for example in computer science, business informatics, or mathematics, is advantageous but not required. In addition, you have knowledge in several of the following areas:

• Practical programming experience: Very good knowledge of and programming experience in C++, as well as knowledge of C# and Objective-C, even without the use of AI
• System know-how: Solid experience in cross-platform software engineering on Windows, macOS, and Linux
• Product architecture: Experience in software architecture, e.g. using UML
• Continuous integration: Experience in continuous integration, e.g. with Jenkins, and in configuration management
• Smart cards: Practical experience in programming with smart cards (ISO 7816), ASN.1, X.509, CMS, PKCS, and PC/SC
• Development tools: Experience in software development with Visual Studio, VSCode, Xcode, CMake, Git/GitLab, and Jira/Confluence
• Libraries and debugging: Knowledge of the Botan Crypto Library, experience with multithreading and debugging in user and kernel mode
• High quality standards: You work with care and precision—as a developer of security software, you understand that security is at the heart of our product
• Willingness to learn: You enjoy diving deeply into complex, domain-specific topics and continuously keeping our VSC up to date with the latest technology
• Communicative team player: You have good German and English skills for daily collaboration, complex technical discussions, code reviews, and international coordination. You are a pragmatic team player who proactively shares knowledge, values constructive feedback in code reviews, and actively contributes to professional exchange in an agile environment.
