Government Solutions

Secure e-mail in the public sector

In many countries, the public sector was among the forerunners in the field of secure e-mails. Official documents very often must be realiable, which can be accomplished with digital signatures. In addition, especially in government environments, e-mails need to be confidential. There are several different ways to implement e-mail security - e.g. with a client solution or a gateway, with a native solution or a plugin, or with smart cards or softkeys. In any case, digital certificates play an important role.

cryptovision has realized e-mail security projects for the German Armed Forces as well as for many other state organisations and enterprises. An important part of most of these solutions is the cryptovision product cv act PKIntegrated for certificate lifecycle management.

Secure e-mail in the military

When e-mail is used in the military for classified data (e.g. Nato-restricted), it is obvious that a high security standard must be met. Gateway encryption solutions are not eligible for this purpose. In addition, most military organisations (e.g. all NATO members) require e-mail encryption solutions, which are evaluated for military use. Native e-mail encryption solutions usually don't meet this requirement.

cryptovision's cv act s/mail is one of the few e-mail encryption solutions on the market, which is suitable for classified data in the military. It can be regarded as one of the most secure e-mail encryption products in the world. cv act s/mail is used by the German Armed Forces as well as by other governmental organisations and companies in the defense industry. It was evaluated by the German IT Security Agency. Although cv act s/mail has a focus on high security, it is still convenient in use.

Electronic passport and eID Solutions

More than 60 countries all around the world have already intoduced electronic passports. Others will follow. In addition, electronic ID cards for special purposes are issued in many places and organisations. These systems are based on high-security ICs, embedded in smart cards or other form factors. cryptovision's product line supports the realization of the complete system, starting with components with the security mechanisms on the eID card itself up to cryptographic libraries and complete tool sets for the infrastructure. See our solution whitepapers Security Solutions for Electronic ID Documents, Infrastructure Components for Electronic ID Applications, and Certificate Infrastructure for e-ID Applications for more details.
